Find a Species Booklet

Species information booklets contain habitat, distribution, life history, taxonomic information and more for southwestern wildlife species. Please use the Advanced or Power Search options if you need to limit your search to New Mexico wildlife (check the taxonomic category(s) of interest and then all of the NM categories available under the state drop down list (e.g. extant, accidental, possible, extirpated and extinct).

Enter a part of the species name (common or scientific), or select a taxonomic group from which to choose a species name to access the booklet.

To to get a list of all 6500+ species in the system, enter an asterisk * (note: this might take some time).
You can enter multiple search terms. For example, type "Macrhybopsis aestivalis" to specify part of the species scientific name. You can also enter partial words, such as "Macrhyb".
Note: Separate terms with spaces, and do not use quotation marks.
